Teen is Celebrated in Her Favorite Worlds
ORLANDO, Fla. (July 2023): Alexis has been struggling with the progression of giant axonal neuropathy, a rare condition that affects both the central and peripheral nervous systems. There’s only 80 diagnosed cases in the U.S., and currently no treatments or cure. Her challenges have been mountainous, and she’s already bravely undergone three painful surgeries to reconstruct her feet to help her walk again. Even with so much trauma and stress, Alexis diligently continued school and maintained good grades. While she is very well aware of the devastating effects of her illness, she stays focused on her ambitions and perseveres with forward momentum. Kids Wish Network celebrated this inspiring teen with a wish in her favorite worlds .
Alexis loves Harry Potter, Jurassic Park and The Avengers, so Kids Wish Network made it possible for Alexis to travel to Florida and experience her favorite movie worlds through immersive attractions at Universal Orlando. Passes for her family were courtesy of Universal. Alexis also felt the magic of Disney with a 3-day Park Hopper pass with the ability to visit all the Disney parks. Kids Wish Network also purchased the family a generous airline gift card for their travels, a Hotels.com gift card to select their accommodations, and assistance with additional incidentals.
“The trip was awesome and was really really fun,” said Alexis. “We basically got to do every ride that we wanted to, and it was really awesome not to have to sit in the hot lines. Thank you so much for everything!”
Alexis continues to push through her progressive hardships. “Despite everything that has happened, I still have my hopes and dreams, and though I had doubted whether it was worth it to work towards them, I never gave in,” she said. Her wish was a time to embrace new experiences, meaningful family moments, and happiness that will thrive through cherished memories.
