Young Hero Embraces Courage Throughout Lengthy Hospitalization

Lillian came into our hospital for severe pneumonia and remained hospitalized after a six-week stay that continues. Lillian required being on a ventilator for 3 weeks, and currently needs BiPap oxygen support at night, and “high flow” oxygen during the day. She has worked very hard within the last few days in physical therapy to gain her physical strength back. Lillian required multiple chest tubes, a PICC line placement, and was just recently cleared to return to a regular diet after receiving TPN for nutrition.

Lillian still has a nasal gastric tube to receive supplemental nutrition to aid her in regaining weight that she lost in the process. She is returning to her funny, spirited self. She is resilient and courageous. She was nominated by Child Life Specialist Adrienne Feilden and multiple staff members at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital in Fountain Valley, CA. They were all inspired by her determination and bravery. Kids Wish Network is so happy to award Lillian as a Hero of the Month.
